Gungahlin Library (ACT 2010)

AusGroup provided detailed design and supplied and installed folded acrylic panels to the external facades of the new Gungahlin Library, ACT. The transparent acrylic panels allow light to project the different acrylic colours onto the interior spaces.

This required specialist skills in several areas of plastic manufacture and installation: AusGroup custom-built a 4m long heat bender to handle the 3.6m lengths. We are now the only company in Australia with a machine of this capacity. Installation required careful maneuvering between the horizontal structural steel rails and under the building’s roof.

AusGroup’s deep experience in custom plastic manufacture and installation allowed us to understand the design problems and find solutions to deliver a terrific outcome for the library.

  • ACT Library project involves installing 140, 3.6m long by 1200 wide folded 20mm acrylic in different colors.
  • 17 bays with 4 different colors.
  • They are sunshades for the library window that will block the light while allowing different colors to project through the acrylic into the library.
